Career and Technical Education Course Advisor

 

Description

Ricky Rescue Fire Training Academy offers SACS Accredited Online Firefighter, Fire Officer, Fire Inspector, Fire Instructor, and Exam Prep courses for the fire service.

The Career and Technical Education Course Advisor, will serve as an advisor for students, administrators, and other officials. The Advisor will serve as an administrative link between students and management.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assess education standards and policies.
  • Survey students to change program or curriculum.
  • Assist in designing new strategies to improve educational quality and help implement new policies.
  • Recommend different educational materials.
  • Report on effectiveness of current academic systems
  • Supervise online education.
  • Advise on academic programs.
  • Coordinate and oversee all courses to ensure they stay accurate and to norm.
  • This position requires consistent and reliable attendance and the employee's physical presence at the workplace.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 

  • Knowledge of adopted local and state fire codes, and the methods and processes utilized to determine compliance.
  • Skill in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
  • Attentive to details and well organized.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively with other team members.
  • Ability to operate necessary equipment, including personal computer, tablet, calculator, copier, facsimile machine, and other standard office equipment.
  • Ability to operate vehicle.
  • Able to meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Analytical and adept at decision-making.
  • Ability to compile data and effectively prepare statistical reports.
  • Ability to provide an elevated level of customer service.
  • Ability to perform and meet frequent deadlines.
  • Must have the willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges.
     

 

 

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Must possess an Associate of Science Degree from an accredited college or university in Fire Science.
  • Min. 3 years of administrative responsibilities within the fire service.
  • Must possess a valid Florida Fire Safety Inspector II Certification.
  • Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Certified Florida Fire Investigator
  • Experience from an international Fire Department.

WAGE

 

  • Commensurate with experience (Between $35 /hr  - $42 /hr).

 

BENEFITS

 

  • Benefits package available after 90 days of employment.

     

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • May be required to work hours other than the regular schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays when needed.
  • Contact with internal and external customers, vendors, outside agencies, and the general public. 
    • Regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; and vibration.
