Ricky Rescue Training Academy’s FFP 2111 Fire Chemistry is part of our online Fire Inspector 1 certification. It is a 45-hour, self-paced, online course with ongoing enrollment. FFP 2111 provides 40 CEUs towards the Florida State Fire Safety Inspector 1 certificate and is one of the required units for Florida Fire Investigator 1 certification.

FFP 2111 is designed to provide candidates with in-depth knowledge of the following:

• Various types of matter, energy, and common substances and how they interact with fires
• The chemical formulas of combustible and flammable materials, how their component molecules bond and separate, their fire-related chemical reactions, and their oxidizing properties
• The substances arsonists use to ignite and accelerate fires

Upon completing FFP 2111, candidates will have acquired detailed knowledge and understanding of:

• The importance of chemistry in relation to fires and its relationship with the fire services and arson investigations
• The makeup and structure of chemical compounds, the differences between them, and the significance of how elements are listed in the Periodic Table
• The terminology and laws of density, energy, gas, and liquid expansion, heat and temperature, and pressure
• The basic characteristics and properties of gases and the gaseous state
• How to perform English (Imperial) and Metric calculations and conversions in relation to chemical compounds and their reactions
• How to calculate density, energy, chemical expansion properties, and pressure
• Basic chemical formulae, the principles of chemical reactions, and how to write them
